Smart push notifications and deep-linking: Land directly on the correct page

Behind the scenes, we have carried out a major architectural upgrade that ensures communication between our mobile apps and the platform runs seamlessly. From now on, 4planning supports smart routing and deep-linking. This means that when a user taps on a push notification – or clicks on a specific link – the app opens directly to the correct page.

Whether it's a new chat message, a changed event, an open bar shift, or a posted news item; the user no longer needs to search within the app themselves. Even if the app was completely closed (cold start), the new system ensures that the user is directed straight to the correct place.

Additionally, we have taken into account users who are members of multiple organisations within 4planning. The platform now automatically recognises which organisation (environment) the notification relates to. The app will switch directly to the correct environment and open the page. Should the user not yet be logged in, the system will remember the destination and, after the user logs in or completes two-factor authentication (2FA), they will still be taken directly to the correct page.

During this update, we have tightened security. Switching environments and forwarding via links has been completely secured to ensure that members only access the data of the organisations they are actually affiliated with. Finally, the push notifications have been technically optimised, making them arrive faster and more reliably on both iOS and Android devices.
