Most of you open 4planning on a phone, on the go: just checking who is on bar duty on Saturday, quickly changing a date, ticking off a registration. Exactly why we have completely overhauled the app on your phone from top to bottom. No new buttons to learn — everything is where you are used to it being — but everything feels more spacious, faster and more familiar.
Here is what has changed:
More screen for your content: cards now run from edge to edge, with soft rounded corners instead of a narrow strip with lots of empty margin around it. At the top you see the colours and the name of your club or company, below that you dive straight into your information. Prefer the old, indented view? As an administrator, you can switch that back with a single click in Settings, with a preview next to it so you can see immediately what you are choosing.
Choosing a date without the fuss: the separate date and time fields have been replaced by one clear choice. You tap the field, see a real monthly calendar with the days that are already fully booked, choose a time from a few handy suggestions and you're done. A date of birth from 1985 now takes four taps instead of endless scrolling back.
Windows that pop up from the bottom: Pop-ups on your phone will now slide up from the bottom as a panel, exactly as you know from other apps. Swipe down to dismiss them, and the page underneath stays put instead of scrolling along. The buttons at the bottom will never again be partially out of view — not even when your keyboard is open.
They are all little things, and precisely because of that you notice them with every single action. The result is an app that demands less attention for its operation, leaving more for what you actually open it for.
